Privacy Policy

Cadence ("the app") is built to run with as little data collection as possible. There's no account, no sign-in, and no login of any kind. This page explains exactly what the app does and doesn't do with your data.
Information we do not collect
- No account, sign-in, email address, or password — the app has none of these, so we never see them.
- No name, contact list, photos, or precise location / GPS.
- No advertising identifiers, and no third-party advertising SDKs — Cadence has no ads.
Motion & Fitness data
Cadence uses your iPhone's built-in pedometer (Apple's CMPedometer, via the Motion & Fitness permission) to measure your live running cadence and estimate your pace while a run is active. This data is processed entirely on your device to draw the numbers you see on the Run screen. It is not transmitted to us or to any third party, and it is not stored beyond the summary described below.
Run history
After you finish a run, a summary is saved — date, duration, target cadence, average cadence, execution score, genre, and metronome setting. This is stored as a local file on your phone only. It is never uploaded, synced, or sent to any server. You can delete individual runs at any time (swipe to delete in Run History), and deleting the app removes all of it permanently.
Analytics
Cadence uses TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service, to understand in aggregate how the app is used (for example, which screens are opened or that a run was started). These events are anonymous: they carry no advertising identifier, no device identifier tied to you personally, and cannot be linked back to your identity or used to track you across apps or websites. We use this only to see what's working and what isn't — never to identify individual users.
Music streaming
Song files stream from a content delivery network (Cloudflare R2) so the app can stay small on disk. Fetching a song file works like loading any file from the web — the CDN provider processes standard technical request data (such as IP address) as part of normal delivery, the same as any website you visit. Cadence does not use this for identification, and downloaded songs are cached locally for offline playback.
Data sharing & sale
We do not sell your data. We do not share data with advertisers. The only outside parties involved are the infrastructure providers named above (TelemetryDeck for anonymous analytics, Cloudflare for content delivery), acting strictly as service providers to run the app — not to identify you.
Children's privacy
Cadence is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone. Since the app has no accounts and no personal-information fields, there is nothing for a child (or anyone else) to submit.
Your choices
- You can deny the Motion & Fitness permission at any time in iOS Settings; the app will simply be unable to show live cadence/pace.
- You can delete individual runs, or delete the app to remove all locally stored data instantly.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the update.
